HORSE TEACHER'S STORIES

"Jewel"

In Loving Memory Of Jewel 1998-2019
Jewel is a earth bound angel. Since 2009 Jewel has been part of our family. Her patience has always shone through despite her own physical limitations. She proudly carried Devyn  around barrels and  poles, over hills, through rivers and safely through any adventure a young cowgirl could think to take her amazing four legged companion. Jewel's physical limitation were starting to take there toll on her so we made the decision to let Jewel spend her days eating grass and basking in the sunshine. Jewel blessed us with two beautiful fillies Northern and Moola in her retirement  Then in 2016 Exceptional Equine started our Equine Assisted Learning Programs. Jewel has graciously once again become a teacher spreading her angel dust on everyone she meets.

Doodlebop is our entertainer with her quirky personality. She loves new adventures. At Exceptional Equine Doodle has preformed many different rolls such as roping, mountain rescue trips, taught all ages to ride, lead the Dawson Creek Fall Fair Parade, and in the winter she will pull kids on toboggans. She is a class clown and with her fancy knot untieing skills she can always bring out a good belly laugh. Doodle really loves her new fulltime job teaching for Exceptional Equine and loves meeting each new student.

"Horton"

Where do we start? Horton became part of the team spring 2016. He was part of the Training or Equine Development Program with Exceptional Equine. Basically Horton was to be conditioned, worked on barrels and sold. This was not the way his storey went. He melted Sam's heart with his incredibly kind, loving, easy going, goofball personality, and outstanding athletic ability on barrels. With a few money making Barrel Runs Horton became part of the team. Horton's personality and teaching ability has really blown our minds. He can Compete as a 1D barrel horse one day and the next be teaching people 8yrs old the next.

Trademark was born in Texas on May 13, 1998. At the age of 1 he moved to Edmon, Oklahoma where he had his Reining debut at the age of 2. In 2003 Trademark moved to Lacombe, Alberta, from there he went on to WhiteCourt, Alberta. In 2013 a young girl named Danielle Soucy fell in love with him and brought him home to Dawson Creek, B.C. He's been shown and loved ever since. Trademark has been shown locally in the Wild and Lawless Reining show, local fall fair, Alberta's Reining Association shows in Fair View and Red Deer, Alberta. His last competition was in 2016 at the NRHA Futurity and Derby in Oklahoma. Aside from his extensive show career Trademark has packed flags at the Dawson Creek rodeo grand entry, done local parades and gymkhanas. Once a year he pulls out his old reining tricks and demonstrates them for the Lakota Agriplex's winter extravaganza show. Trademark's jobs here at E.E. are being an EAL horse teaching adults and kids life skills on the ground and allowing little kids to become great riders in our Progressive Riding Lesson Programs. Trademarks gentle disposition, extensive training, and love for attention makes him a great asset to our team.
